Jennifer H. Paz

Jennifer Paz worked as part of my Academic Affairs team for 5 years when I was Vice President of Academic Affairs for Shorelight. What impressed me most about Jennifer was her versatility of skills including teaching, curriculum design, faculty management, academic operations, data analytics, market research, presentation design, and instructional design (just to name a few). Jennifer took my vision to have a Shorelight Center for Academic Success and she turned it into a robust, online academic and career resource servicing thousands of students worldwide. Jennifer is a fast learner, her work ethic is unmatched, and her commitment to student success is reflected in her exceptional work. Whether she is building a website, designing an online course, creating a new skills-building workshop, designing a presentation, or teaching a class, I know that what she will create will be exceptional. Jennifer is the kind of worker that takes each task seriously which means managers can just let her get on with the assigned work and they don't have to micromanage her process. What Jennifer can achieve is limitless. She is truly a unicorn and any team would be lucky to have her.

Jennifer is the type of coworker that many people hope for — responsible, creative, focused, responsive, and always seeking better ways to do things. As a skilled and insightful instructional designer, Jennifer combines technical knowledge with creative pedagogical approaches and engaging content. During the time I worked with her, Jennifer mastered a new LMS and created an innovative online Center for Academic Success (CAS) for international students that was lauded by all who saw it for its welcoming interface, ease of functionality and breadth of course offerings. She worked seamlessly with the learning architecture team to research, create and test the platform functions and integrations. In addition to developing the structure for CAS, she designed and developed many of the courses using Articulate Rise and created an ongoing webinar series featuring team instructors. She monitored and shared monthly usage data with stakeholders and ensured that all courses and tutoring sessions were covered when conflicts arose. She also oversaw the transition of courses between Canvas and Blackboard LMSs, coaching and troubleshooting with team members to ensure the best experience for students.

Jennifer is also a skilled instructor who seeks ways to extend student learning and provide access to content through multiple modalities. She leverages her understanding of student needs to mentor other instructors and create systematic means to gather feedback to improve curriculum. She is thorough in training new instructors and designers, codifying her training with screencasts, checklists, and task assignments. Team members relied on her steadfast and detail-oriented presence in a rapidly-changing environment.

Jennifer is a dedicated and hardworking professional with superb technical, design, and project management skills. She would truly be an asset to any team lucky enough to have her.
